Located right in the heart of the town, both figuratively and literally, Abergavenny market has long been the focus of trade through the town.

Take a stroll through the market on a Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, and you’ll find tradesmen selling all kinds of goods, from local produce to finely crafted works of art. You’ll also find a large number of townsfolk hunting for a bargain!

Sadly, after over 150 years, the cattle market held its last livestock sale on 10 December 2013, and has now been moved to the new Monmouthshire Livestock Centre at Bryngwyn near Raglan.

Opening times

The market is usually open for business every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday with additional events as follows:

Flea Market Every Wednesday
Craft fair Every 2nd Saturday of the month (Mar-Dec)
Artisan farmers market Every 4th Thursday of the month

Note – dates are subject to change/cancellations. Please check the Abergavenny Facebook page for latest information.

Brewery Yard

Up until 2010, the area behind the town hall known as Brewery Yard was mainly used as a car park throughout the week, and taken over by market stalls at other times. It has since been redeveloped into “a vibrant events space”, with terraces, seating areas and a piazza.
