The Blorenge mountain, overlooking Abergavenny, is one of the best hang gliding and paragliding sites in Britain. On most Sunday afternoons the sky above the mountain is full of people soaring through the skies. There are also many good sites in the area for training beginners, and there is a training centre based in the town.

The Blorenge site is owned by the SE Wales Hang gliding and Paragliding club – for information about access, take-off and landing tips (eg how to avoid the dual carriage way, trees, canal, river and electricity pylons on the way down!), please visit the the Blorenge page on their site.

A little further outside Abergavenny near Pandy you’ll also find Hatterall Ridge, which is yet another renowned paragliding site.
