Abergavenny Market
The Townhall and market

The Townhall is one of the most easily distinguishable buildings in Abergavenny with its green pointed top standing tall above the others. The building itself dates back to 1807. As well as providing a meeting place for local council discussions, the Theatre has been entertaining the town for centuries.
The ground floor provides a spacious arena for the indoor market, a market which is still thriving today. On Tuesdays and Saturdays the car park behind the townhall is also turned into a market place where you can buy anything from fresh fruit and vegetables to quality clothes.
The cattle market is also worth a visit, as local farm animals are regularly auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Linda Vista Gardens

Literally "Beautiful View Gardens", it is easy to see why this area of peace and tranquility is so-called. Looking across the Castle Meadows toward the Blorenge, the garden has been enjoyed by the people of Abergavenny since it was first opened to the public in 1843. Some extremely rare orchids and shrubs can be found within the garden, as well as the more usual plants and flowers which make up the glorious displays.

The castle meadows
Castle Meadows

To get away from the lively hustle and bustle of the town centre, take a stroll past the castle and into the castle meadows. The large meadows here take you quietly past the River Usk and to the river bridge at Llanfoist. It's a popular area for picnics, late evening strolls, and dog-walking.

It's also used as a landing area for handgliders descending from the Blorenge, as well as grazing for cattle.
